Michelangelo Pistoletto Exhibition
The Blueproject Foundation hosts the solo exhibition of Michelangelo Pistoletto, which can be seen in Il Salotto from November 13th 2015 to March 27th 2016*.
The exhibition features a selection of works by the famous Italian artist that comprise a career of almost forty years, from the mid-seventies until today, in which he reflects on the perception of the self and the society to which we belong through everyday objects like mirrors, used as an element of identification and turning them into artworks by themselves. These pieces are not only part of the history of a great creator but also the testimony of a key period in the history of contemporary art.
Michelangelo Pistoletto (Biella, 1933) began his career reflecting on the self-portrait. Already in the sixties, he started working with mirrors in his series Mirror Paintings, which gave him international renown and were the foundation of his subsequent artistic reflection. In the seventies, he was one of the pioneers of the art movement Arte Povera, from which he has remained independent. In the nineties, he initiated several projects, including the creation of Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto, which motivates the relationship between art and various social areas to promote a responsible transformation of society and thus allow to achieve what Pistoletto called "Third Paradise", a stage in which humanity will learn how to harmonize technological advances with a respect for nature.
*For technical reasons, the exhibition will be closed on Sunday March 20th 2016.
