Fateful festive
Performances session
"Fateful festive" is a session that presents a reflection on different facets and visions of human interaction in groups. It proposes dynamics and performances that explore the collective ritual from different angles: from the festive, playful, group identity, liberation or oppression.
The event consists of four performances made by different artists, a variety of proposals where there is room for play, reflection, a cynical joke and participation by artists Jordi Ferreiro, Andrea López, Juan David Galindo and Daniela Medina Poch.
Curated by Juan David Galindo
Saturday, June 27, from 8pm
Andrea López
"Blow me" (5 min)
In the action "Blow me", as a joke, Andrea López Bernal confronts festive elements on an individual level, placing the audience in the position of voyeur; the collective celebration becomes an individualistic hedonist act.
Jordi Ferreiro
"Never Have I Ever" (20 min)
Jordi Ferreiro action addresses the group reflecting on the role of the spectator and the behavior allowed in art institutions. It proposes a collective game where group dynamics are developed. In a playful way and using strategies from pedagogy, the artist seeks to subvert the relationship of the viewer in the art world opening up space for the collective and the dynamism of human relationships.
Daniela Medina Poch
"September 11" (15 min)
Daniela Media Poch critically observes the collective identity of nations. On the one hand, she relates them to religion highlighting the emotional and irrational character that the group identity can acquire. On the other hand, she relates the identity of certain Western nations with violent anti-terrorist speeches. Group identity, besides being irrational, can hide or legitimize unjust facts.
Juan David Galindo
"Contagion" (15 min)
The performance by Juan David Galindo explores the state of collective psychic exaltation by means of group exercises. Putting the spotlight on those collective rituals where emotion and way of acting of a group is carried beyond reason, the artist questions the value that they can and do have on society, leaving the question of whether the group ritual acts function as a release agent or an alienating one.
