El plato vacío

The Blueproject Foundation presents "El plato vacío," a participatory performance, by the artist Daniel Yacubovich, taking place in Blueproject Foundation on Thursday 29th January 2015. This artistic action is presented as a clear tribute to oil painting and the historical theme of still life, in which Daniel Yacubovich explores these elements in a dialogue that reformulates and subverts its more traditional representation.

Yacubovich organizes collective meals, in which each participant brings food that is placed on the tablecloth to be consumed directly with the hands. The whole process is recorded with a camera in overhead shot on the table. Simultaneously, the action is projected on a wall in real-time, allowing participants to interact with the composition and transform it.

The result is a large canvas oil painting, full of shapes and symbols that refer to the imagery of the cosmos, that the artist then folds and its pleats create a grid reminiscent of maps coordinates. Also, the artist creates a video in which more than an hour of action is compressed into just four minutes, and it will be displayed in the Blueproject Foundation until February 8th.
