The exhibition is divided into two consecutive chapters:
Above the Sea of Fog. Chapter 1: from November 11 to 25.
Above the Sea of Fog. Chapter 2: from November 25 to December 15.

Michal Martychowiec's artistic practice is characterized by the construction of a symbolic narrative in continuous development, immersed in historical research. The exhibition that occupies Space 3 of the Párraga Center focuses on power exchanges: between the power of the individual and the power of the collective and how they relate to freedom, ideology and apparatus. This exhibition is conceived as a conceptual landscape in continuous change that is inspired by historical theories of progress.

In the installation, the visitor is immersed in the thick fog that fills the exhibition space, preventing them from seeing anything (a basic expectation of anyone visiting an exhibition). Fog thus becomes a symbolic element of the contemporary landscape, prompting us to look at it from above like the wanderer in Friedrich's iconic image.

What is waiting above the fog?

Martychowiec situates her narrative within several histories: those of painting, those of power, and those of historiography, and raises important questions about the contemporary conditions in which we live and the structures and "frameworks" to which we are subjected and within which we are intertwined, as well as our relationship to institutions and apparatuses, culture and ideology, freedom and power.
