Coal mine in the Powder River Basin area. Gillette, Wyoming, United States2018
Archival inkject on photo matt fibre paper
119 x 169 cm
This work was part of the
Future Relics exhibition at the Blueproject Foundation.
This project is an investigation into the three forms of gold
(mineral, hydrocarbon, and precious metal) that reveals
the interactions between transformation processes, local
histories, and the power relations of corporate imperialism.
The photography featured in this exhibition connects with
certain consequences of coal extraction in the Powder River
Basin in Wyoming, USA, and its transportation across the
US. The train becomes a symbol of resource distribution,
capitalism, and pollution.
