Christiane Löhr's sculptures are unique in the simplicity of their materials, which go against our visual expectations. Löhr's work evolves through her direct contact with nature and it is here that she encounters materials such as plant stems, dandelion seeds or ivy, which are used to construct small sculptures reminiscent of everyday objects or architecture. She also uses horsehair to make small, hand-sized, as well as large, wall-sized, "drawings" in her various installations.

The artist seems to follow an internal geometry inherent to the materials she uses, the objects are shown as examples of an imaginary architecture, surprisingly light and fragile, yet powerful and stable.

Proportion and space are the main themes of her works on paper. Lines that "grow" from a point often at the bottom of the page to the top edge like a "flow from the inside to the outside," as the artist describes. Optically, the structures strive to reach beyond the borders of the paper, as if they could grow endlessly and take over the room.
